All timber greys with age unless treated. Furniture kept under cover will need less care than if exposed to the sun and rain. We finish our timber with a high quality timber dressing oil which contains a U.V protector and moss fungicide inhibitor. If left exposed to rain for long periods, the rain will wash the oil out, and the sun will start to bleach the timber. Therefore we recommend that all furniture be coated with exterior timber finish. We use a product made by Sikkens coded Cetol 077 HLS, made specifically for outdoor furniture and decking. Three coates are required initially then one coat each year without sanding.

Hardwoods - Kwila

When the weathering process begins it is natural for Kwila Timber to leach brownish sap. The length of this process can vary from piece to piece. Without proper care this can result in the sap staining. To avoid staining, accelerate the weathering process by hosing down your furniture thoroughly on a grassy area until the leaching process is complete. Sap marks will fade with time or may be removed with a mild bleach solution.
